What Is Noorani Qaida?

Noorani Qaida (نُورَانِي قَاعِدَة) is the foundational textbook used in Madrasas and Maktabs across India and the Muslim world to teach beginners how to read the Holy Quran. It was authored by Maulana Noor Muhammad Haqqani and has remained the standard first step in Quranic education for over a century — taught in Maktabs from Parbhani to Karachi to Cairo, in exactly the same sequence, for the same reason: it works.

The Qaida is not the Quran itself. It is the carefully structured ladder that teaches a complete beginner — child or adult — every Arabic letter, every joining rule, every vowel mark, and every basic pronunciation principle they need before they touch the Mushaf. Skip it, and you spend the rest of your life mispronouncing the Word of Allah. Complete it properly, and the Quran opens for you.

At IqraExpert, our Ustads teach Noorani Qaida through live one-on-one online sessions — the same depth of attention that Madrasa students received from their Ustad, but private, scheduled around your family, and in your home. No group of fifteen children competing for three minutes of correction. Just your child and their Ustad, page by page, until each one is correct.

ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ

“Read in the name of your Lord who created.”

— Quran 96:1 — the very first word revealed to the Prophet ﷺ. Reading begins here.

Why Noorani Qaida and not just “start with the Quran”? Because the Quran is not a beginner’s book — it assumes you can already read Arabic. The Qaida exists precisely to bridge that gap: from absolute zero to Quran-ready. Every Madrasa graduate, every Hafiz, every Aalim started here. Your child should too.

What You Will Learn — Complete Qaida Curriculum

The IqraExpert Noorani Qaida syllabus covers every chapter of the traditional Qaida — taught step by step with live correction from a certified Ustad. Each module is mastered before moving to the next. There are no skipped pages and no rushed promotions.

  1. 01

    Huroof-e-Tahajji — The 28 Arabic Letters

Every Arabic letter from Alif to Yaa — with its name, shape, and correct pronunciation point (Makhraj) in the throat, mouth, lips, or nose. The complete alphabet, drilled until each letter is automatic.

  2. 02

    Huroof-e-Murakkabaat — Letter Joining Rules

How letters change shape when they appear at the beginning, middle, or end of a word. Recognising the same letter in all four forms — and which letters never join to the next.

  3. 03

Harakat — The Three Short Vowels

Fathah (Zabar) for the “a” sound, Kasrah (Zer) for the “i” sound, and Dammah (Pesh) for the “u” sound. The marks above and below letters that bring them to life.

  4. 04

    Tanween — The Double Vowels

Fathatain, Kasratain, and Dammatain — the doubled marks that produce a soft “n” sound at word endings. The first hint of nasality (Ghunnah) the student learns.

  5. 05

Sukoon & Jazm — The Silent Mark

The small circle (ْ) that tells you to stop on a letter without any vowel. One of the most important Qaida lessons — getting Sukoon wrong changes the meaning of words in the Quran.

  6. 06

Tashdeed (Shaddah) — The Doubling Mark

The “w” shaped mark (ّ) that doubles a letter’s force — pressing the tongue or lips firmly so the letter is pronounced with strength. The most commonly skipped mark in beginner reading. Our Ustads catch it every time.

  7. 07

Madd Letters — The Three Elongations

Alif Madd (آ — long “aa”), Waw Madd (و — long “oo”), and Yaa Madd (ي — long “ee”). Stretching vowel sounds for the correct duration — typically 2 Harakah counts for natural Madd.

  8. 08

    Leen Letters — Soft Pronunciation

Waw Sakinah and Yaa Sakinah preceded by Fathah — producing the soft “aw” and “ay” sounds. The bridge between basic vowels and full Madd rules.

  9. 09

Noon & Meem Sakinah — Introduction to Tajweed

A gentle first taste of the Tajweed rules — Idhhar, Ikhfa, Idgham, and Iqlab — preparing the student for the full Tajweed Rules course that follows Qaida.

  10. 10

Joined Reading — Combining All Rules

Practice exercises that blend every rule learned — reading complete Quranic words and short Ayat with all marks, all elongations, and all joining rules applied. The bridge that turns a Qaida student into a Quran reader.

  11. 11

First Surahs — Surah Al-Fatiha & the Last Para

The graduation lesson — reading Surah Al-Fatiha and selected short Surahs from Juz Amma with Tajweed already applied. Your child finishes the Qaida already reading the Quran.

How IqraExpert Teaches Noorani Qaida Online

👂

Live 1-on-1 Sessions — Every Class

Every class is a private live session — your child reads directly to their Ustad, who listens to every letter and corrects in real time. No group distractions. No waiting your turn. Twenty-five focused minutes of Quran for your child every session.

🔁

Maktab-Style Patient Repetition

Each lesson is repeated until the student reads it perfectly. We do not rush. Sabr is the teaching method. A child who needs three weeks on Sukoon gets three weeks. The next page only opens when this one is closed correctly.

📺

Digital Qaida on Screen

The Ustad shares the actual Noorani Qaida pages on screen, points to each letter, and the student reads along. The visual focus mirrors the experience of sitting in front of a teacher in a real Maktab — just clearer.

📝

Daily Practice & Parent Updates

After each session, students receive practice pages to revise. Parents get monthly progress reports — what was learned, what is improving, what needs work. You always know exactly where your child stands.
